Sebastian Vettel says Ferrari has some "very promising" work going on behind the scenes as it prepares to take another step forward in the second half of the season.

Ferrari won its second race of the year at the Hungarian Grand Prix two weeks ago, matching team boss Maurizio Arrivabene's pre-season target. Speaking before that win, Vettel was already confident about the future development of the car and the work going on in Maranello for the second half of the year.

"Overall it is very positive and especially seeing what is starting to shape up in the background, which obviously you don't see here at the track and you don't see immediately on the car," he said. "It's very promising and the project is ongoing and I am quite confident for the future."

Vettel believes Ferrari has made the biggest step forward of all the teams in 2015.

"The first half of the season has been phenomenal if you look at where we've been last year and where the team is coming from in terms of performance of the car, in terms of team morale - everything is a lot better than it was. I think Ferrari has done the biggest step out of all the teams, and I don't know why it is so difficult for some people to appreciate that. I think inside the team we are very proud and happy of what we have achieved in all areas.

"If you look at the car, obviously I didn't drive last year's car, but Kimi is a lot happier with the car so they did a great job. If you look at the power unit, I think Ferrari has done the biggest step out of all the opposition. I think there are a lot of positives and it's normal that sometimes you find yourself in a race where things are not coming together and there is a bit of a dip, but the most important thing is that across the last three, four or five races it is still looking very good."
