Nico Rosberg is more worried about Ferrari's long-run pace at the Austrian Grand Prix than the potential Sebastian Vettel showed over one lap during Friday practice.
Sebastian Vettel was 0.011s quicker than Rosberg in FP2, but Ferrari has tended to be even more competitive over longer runs this season when managing tyre wear and fuel consumption are factors. Rosberg said he is able to up his pace for qualifying on Saturday, but Ferrari's race pace looks threatening for Sunday.
"You always have a bit in your pocket on the Friday to pull out in qualifying, but maybe over a long run they were closer, though in general everyone is closer here," he said. "We are always a bit worried about Ferrari because they are our closest rival and this is a short track so naturally everyone will be closer and they seem to be quick here."
Rosberg said he made a small mistake at Turn 3 on his hot lap.
"It was OK. I locked up a bit in turn three and lost some time, but other than that it was fine."
