Nigel Benn has confirmed his comeback to boxing at the age of 55.
After a 23-year absence from the sport, the Brit will take on former world champion Sakio Bika, 40, on Nov. 23 in Birmingham.
Benn (42-5, 35 KOs), who held the WBO middleweight title and WBC super-middleweight title in the '90s, last fought in 1996, losing to Steve Collins for a second consecutive time. Bika (34-7, 22 KOs), meanwhile, last fought in 2017.
Benn's defeat to Collins marked his third consecutive loss, seemingly bringing his nine-year spell as a professional boxer to an end.
Two of the Brit's most notable clashes in that time were against compatriot Chris Eubank, who defeated Benn by TKO in 1990 before the pair fought to a draw in 1993. The first bout saw Benn lose his middleweight title, while the result of the rematch meant Benn retained his super-middleweight championship.
Benn's upcoming contest with Bika will be sanctioned by the British and Irish Boxing Authority (Biba), which formed in 2016, after the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) reportedly refused to sanction the fight.
Two of Benn's sons, Conor and Harley, are professional boxers. Conor, 22, is unbeaten after 15 bouts.
