A busy weekend in women's boxing didn't have much bearing on the rankings.
Chantelle Cameron's junior middleweight debut on the first MVPW card in London on Sunday saw her collect the vacant WBO title with a hard-fought, yet dominant, unanimous decision win over Michaela Kotaskova. Cameron, the only boxer to defeat Katie Taylor in the pro ranks, debuts at No. 2 at 154 pounds while also setting up a possible showdown with her MVP stablemate, WBC and WBA titleholder Mikaela Mayer.
Also on Sunday, WBC lightweight champion Caroline Dubois cemented her place as the top woman in the 135-pound division by dropping and beating Terri Harper to add the WBO championship with a decision win. Dubois, 25, showed poise and power in remaining undefeated and is quickly becoming a threat to crack the pound-for-pound rankings. Harper drops one spot to No. 4 behind WBC champ Stephanie Han.
And on the same card, Ellie Scotney was crowned the undisputed junior featherweight champion by defeating Mayelli Flores by unanimous decision in an entertaining battle. Scotney and Flores maintain their places as No. 1 and No. 2 at 122 pounds, respectively.
Lauren Price retained her WBA, WBC and IBF welterweight titles -- and her top spot in the ESPN women's welterweight rankings -- with a decision win over Stephanie Pineiro in Wales on Saturday. She endured a nasty cut inside her mouth to outpoint a tough-as-nails Pineiro with a unanimous decision. Perhaps of more importance is what happened after as undisputed heavyweight champion Claressa Shields stepped into the ring afterward and teased a potential showdown with Price down the line.
Rankings are updated every Tuesday. They're based on recent bouts, head-to-head competition and the quality of opponent. As with almost everything, until fighters square off against one another, there is a layer of subjectivity to it. Fighters who haven't fought in 18 months and don't have a fight scheduled will be removed from the rankings until they fight again.
