Paul Gustard is to retire from professional rugby at the end of the current season - marking the end of an 11 year career with Leicester Tigers, London Irish and Saracens.
In the past two seasons, the 32-year-old back row forward has made 48 appearances for Saracens and in total has made 172 Premiership appearances since making his debut for the Tigers in the 1997/98 season.
After five years with Leicester Tigers, he then spent a further four seasons at London Irish before joining Saracens at the start of the 2006/07 season.
"I've enjoyed every minute of my career but the time feels right for me to call it a day," explained Gustard. "I've got some very fond memories throughout those 11 years and I've been lucky enough to win Heineken Cup and Premiership titles in that time.
"I've also really enjoyed my time at Saracens and obviously, it would have been the dream scenario to bow out in a Heineken Cup final but that wasn't to be. But I can honestly say I've got no regrets and it's great to be involved in the game during the time of its transition from amateur to professional."
Gustard represented England at XV, A, U21, U19 and Sevens along with representing the Barbarians in his career.
He added: "I would have loved to earn a full England cap but that didn't quite work out for me having represented England in two non-cap fixtures. I've had a few ups and downs, especially after losing nearly two and a half years through bad injury, but I've loved every minute of being involved in professional sport - the training, the camaraderie and the pressure to perform every week.
"I've also been fortunate in terms of what rugby has brought to me off the pitch and had I not made the move to Leicester, I wouldn't have met my fiancé Nina and a lot of great friends. In terms of the future, I've got a couple of fantastic opportunities to consider and I will be exploring those avenues."
