Cornewell to skipper England Under 21's

Leicester centre Matt Cornwell will captain England in their Six Nations under-21s opener against Wales at Worcester's Sixways ground.

Cornwell led England during last year's IRB under-21s world championship in Argentina and this time takes charge of a side containing several players with Guinness Premiership experience.

But coach Jim Mallinder also hands under-21 debuts to Gloucester backs Ryan Lamb and Anthony Allen, Bath hooker Chris Brooker and Leeds number eight Jordan Crane on Friday night.

``Matt is a good leader who did a fantastic job for us last year,'' said Mallinder.

``He has been in top form for his club and he has the respect of all the players and management.''
