Foley slams Bath "stinkers"

Bath coach Michael Foley claimed his side's performance "stank" after watching them fail to take chances on their way to defeat by an off-key Leicester side.

The 15-9 home defeat leaves Bath back in relegation trouble for the second successive season, just two points above bottom club Newcastle.

Foley said: "I didn't think it was a good game and I'm certainly not happy with the performance. From our supporters point of view I would be very disappointed after watching that. Our composure lets us down. We turned simple ball over. We had an opportunity to win that game."

Even his Leicester opposite number Dean Richards admitted Bath, who led 8-7 at half-time, should have gone in a further eight or 10 points ahead.

Foley said: "When you come in only a point up after a half like that against a team like Leicester you just know they are going to bite your behind.

"Even before today we talked about the real threat of relegation. If we don't address it pretty soon and turn it around we will be relegated. We are not playing well enough. That performance stank. We had our chances and we didn't take them.
"Everybody from the management to the last member of the playing staff is responsible".

Leicester chief Richards was also far from happy with his team's performance.
"The execution and skill levels were not particularly high today but if you look back over recent years at how many times has it been like that with Leicester? I think on very few occasions".

Asked if Bath had let his team off the hook he replied: "Just slightly. We gifted them a try and they gifted us one and then we scored the best try of the day. We didn't deserve to go in 8-7 down. They should have had another eight or ten".

The five goal kicking chances missed by youngster Olly Barkley proved expensive for Bath but Richards said: "I feel sorry for Olly. He scored 19 points last week and has more than 250 this season so people shouldn't point the finger at him".
