Robinson and Moody scoop Zurich accolades

Sale and England full-back Jason Robinson has capped a memorable year by being named the Zurich Premiership Player of the Year.

Robinson has played a key role in Sale's Premiership campaign that ended with them as runners-up to champions Leicester.

They also find themsleves in the semi-finals of the Zurich Championsship and also line up against Pontypridd on Saunday in this season's Parker Pen Shield Final.

At the ceremony in London, Leicester Tigers' Lewis Moody scooped the Young Player of the Year award after a seaon in which he broke into Clive Woodward's England squad.

London Irish player-coach Brendan Venter was voted overseas player of the season and was then named jointly with Conor O'Shea for their work as joint directors of rugby.

Elsewhere, Gloucester and England 7s star James Simpson-Daniel collected the Try of the Season award for his effort against Bath at Kingsholm and Chris McLoughlin from Durham claimed the Unsung Hero award.
