Mostyn signs for Newport

Following the loss of coach Glen Ross and hooker Brendan Jackman to sale Irish provincial side Connacht have lost another of their squad with Matt Mostyn signing for Newport.

The 25-year-old Australian-born Mostyn who won the last of his five caps during the World Cup has signed a 2 year contract with the Welsh side.

"We're delighted to have won the race for Matt's signature because he is a seasoned professional and an international class player," said team manager Jim McCreedy. "Not only is he a proven try scorer who packs both pace and punch, but he is also skilled enough to play at centre.

Mostyn, who has also in the past played for Begles-Bordeaux ended last season as the highest try scorer in the All Ireland League Second Division, notching three hat-tricks in his tally of 18 for Galweigians as they earned promotion.
