Austin Healey was today named Allied Dunbar Premiership player of the season.
The Leicester and England star collected his award at a lunch in central London, capping an outstanding campaign at club level.
Healey helped Leicester clinch their second successive Premiership title, switching with devastating effect mid term to fly-half.
Having also played scrum-half and wing his England Six Nations position for Leicester, it was in the number 10 role that he revelled.
The Tigers did not lose a league match after manager Dean Richards made his bold move, and there was no stopping Healey in England colours either.
He scored five tries during the Six Nations, including three against Italy to become England's first Test match hat-trick hero since Chris Oti in 1988.
While Healey scooped the Premiership's top honour, league runners-up Bath clinched a notable awards double.
Wing Iain Balshaw, top try-scorer in Premiership One this term, collected young player of the year honours, while Andy Robinson was voted coach of the season, above Richards and Northampton boss John Steele.
Matt Dawson, England's Six Nations skipper, took the Premiership international player of the season award, pipping Test team-mate Lawrence Dallaglio and Northampton captain Pat Lam.
Lam, meanwhile, received a special award as the Allied Dunbar Premiership's outstanding player from season 1997/98 through to 1999/2000.
He made 57 league appearances for Newcastle and Northampton over the past three campaigns, scoring 28 tries.
"Pat had yet another exceptional season, both as a player and as a captain," Steele said.
"He has an incredibly positive style of play which is reflected in his leadership of the team."
Supporters' awards went to Gloucester lock Ian Jones (Premiership One) and Rotherham scrum-half Dave Scully(Premiership Two), with Manchester's John Wharton a club servant of 30 years winning the unsung hero section.
