Origin streaker targets All Blacks

State of Origin streaker Wati Holmwood wants to let it all hang out during a rugby union Test involving New Zealand.

Holmwood fronted Burwood Local Court in Sydney on Tuesday, when he pleaded guilty to one count of entering a playing field (ANZ Stadium) without authorisation and one count of wilful and obscene exposure in a public place in relation to his nude 95-metre dash during the deciding State of Origin rugby league match between New South Wales and Queensland in July.

But the charges have not dissuaded Holmwood from targeting another major sporting event - this time in his native New Zealand before another capacity crowd and huge TV audience.

"I'd like to do an All Blacks Test one day," he said.

Holmwood, 33, said that he had been drinking prior to running on the field and interfering in play in the final minutes of the Blues' loss to Queensland on July 17. He smeared lubricant on his body to make it harder for security guards to catch him. "I had a few beers, but I was always going to do it," he said.

Holmwood attempted to avoid a large media contingent on Tuesday by arriving to court late and donning a Canterbury Bulldogs cap and sunglasses. Now sporting a beard, Holmwood revealed that his immediate family had disowned him after the State of Origin streak. That display of public nudity came two years after he removed his kit and disturbed the 2011 National Rugby League (NRL) semi-final between the Warriors and Wests Tigers at Allianz Stadium.

Holmwood, who has been banned for life from all NRL venues, will return to court for sentencing on August 29 after undergoing a psychiatric assessment.
