Packers expect Parsons at practice 'sometime this week'

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers defensive end Micah Parsons will practice this week for the first time since he tore the ACL and meniscus in his left knee on Dec. 14 of last year.

"That would be the intention," coach Matt LaFleur said Monday. "Again, it's going to be a process trying to get him back, but we're hopeful. It's going to be dependent upon the next couple days, but we're hopeful he'll be able to get out there sometime this week."

The Packers' next practice is Wednesday.

LaFleur said the team held a walk-through Monday after the players had the weekend off following last Thursday's win over the Carolina Panthers. Parsons continued to work with the trainers on Monday and was not part of the walk-through, LaFleur said.

Parsons underwent surgery on Dec. 29 to repair his torn ACL and torn meniscus, which meant he would have a longer recovery than if it was just a standard ACL reconstruction. He remains on the physically unable to perform list. The Packers will have 21 days from when Parsons first practices before they have to add him to the 53-man roster.

"If I had a bet on it, it's going to be more towards the longer end than the shorter end," LaFleur said.

That means Parsons won't play Sunday against the New England Patriots and likely would not play in Week 10 against the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers have their bye in Week 11, which would set up Parsons' return for their Thanksgiving eve game against the Rams.

"I would just say it's like everything around here is, it's pretty fluid in terms of how he responds and just the progress he's going to hopefully continue to make leading up to when he's available," LaFleur said.

In his first season with the Packers, Parsons had 12.5 sacks and a league-high 64 pressures despite playing in just 14 games. The Packers gave up two first-round picks and Kenny Clark to acquire Parsons in a trade from the Cowboys in August 2025 and signed him to a four-year, $188 contract extension.
