Bellator Season 6 featherweight tournament winner Daniel Straus broke his left hand, forcing him out of a title fight with champion Pat Curran, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com on Tuesday.
Straus, who broke the hand during a recent training session, was slated to face Curran on April 4 in Atlantic City, N.J.
Bellator has not yet announced whether Curran will remain on the card, though the source told ESPN.com that the promotion is actively seeking a replacement for Straus. Regardless, Curran's title will not be on the line until Straus fully recovers.
Straus (21-4) earned the title shot in May 2012 with a unanimous decision over Marlon Sandro in the featherweight tournament final.
He submitted Alvin Robinson in the second round with a rear-naked choke on Oct. 26 during a non-tournament bout.
Curran is 18-4 professionally. He successfully defended his title on Jan. 17 with a split decision over Patricio Freire.
