World champion Nico Rosberg is looking forward to seeing how his replacement Valtteri Bottas fares against former rival Lewis Hamilton.
Mercedes announced Bottas as Rosberg's replacement on Monday, putting an end to a six-week search for the world champion's successor. Bottas comes to the team with four years of F1 experience at Williams and Rosberg believes his former team has made the right choice.
"I was informed of the announcement yesterday and I think that's great news for the team," he said via Facebook Live. "I'm happy that they found a great solution relatively quickly. That's awesome and I'm sure he is going to do a really good job and blend in well."
After four years of intense rivalry with former teammate Hamilton, Rosberg is looking forward to seeing Bottas go up against the three-time champion.
"I'm going to be sitting in front of the TV and watching the action and I look forward to seeing how Valtteri gets on, especially against Lewis. Lewis is an awesome reference point and one of the best out there. It's not going to be easy against him for sure and it will be interesting to follow."
