Nico Rosberg: New final corner will help overtaking

SEPANG, Malaysia -- Nico Rosberg believes Sepang's new final corner will open up overtaking opportunities at the Malaysian Grand Prix because the fastest line does not involve hitting the apex.

The whole of the circuit has been resurfaced, while the final corner has been relaid so that the camber slopes away from the apex. The reprofiling of the corner has led to several complaints from other drivers, but Rosberg is a fan.

"I think it's a good corner, we can learn something from that one," he said. "Because even when you're following someone in front you can do two different lines, and if you're following closely behind you can go on the inside, so there's a little less grip but at least you'll have clean air, then you can give it a go on the run down to Turn 1. For passing it will be cool."

Rosberg said he is enjoying the challenge of finding the best line through the corner.

"Yeah for sure, they changed the angle of the track totally, so now you have to find a new line through there, I think the best line was not even hitting the apex, you have to stay a bit further out so it's quite interesting."
