Nico Rosberg says the title battle with Lewis Hamilton is on after narrowing the gap to two points with victory at the Italian Grand Prix.
A poor start for Hamilton saw Rosberg take the lead into the first corner and he never looked under threat for the rest of the race. After going into the summer break with a 19-point deficit, consecutive victories at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza mean Rosberg is now just two points off Hamilton with seven races remaining this season.
"I'm feeling great," he said on the Monza podium. "The race is on with Lewis of course, it's always going to be a great battle and I look forward to what's to come."
Rosberg said the start was crucial to securing victory at Monza.
"It was all down to the start, I had an awesome start and that made the win."
Asked if the tide was now with him in the title race, Rosberg added: "No, not at all. I don't see waves. I just see it race-by-race and today I am very, very happy to have won here and next is Singapore and I will try and win there and that is it."
