Pirelli has announced it will bring the medium, soft and super-soft tyre to the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.
Under the 2016 regulations F1's tyre manufacturer brings three compounds to each event. Of these three, two must be set aside for the race (of which one must be used) and one set aside for Q3.
In this case, the medium and soft have been designated the 'race' tyre, while the ten drivers who make it through to Q3 will have to use a set of super-softs. The three-tyre rule has been hugely successful this season in shaking up strategy during the five races of the year so far.
The medium-soft-super-soft combination has been Pirelli's favourite this year and was chosen for the first four races of the year. It will also appear in Azerbaijan's inaugural F1 race before the Budapest event on July 24. Hungary is the final race until the four-week summer break.
