FIA announces revised 2016 Formula One calendar

The FIA has announced a revised 2016 calendar, which sees an earlier start to the season, a re-instated summer break and a race which clashes with Le Mans.

The World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) released a new calendar for 2016, which confirmed the news the Australian Grand Prix moves to March 20 after originally being slated for April 3. The earlier start eases pressure on what was already a heavily condensed calendar with Azerbaijan's debut race and the return of the German Grand Prix following its cancellation this season.

The newly-added Baku street race -- which will be back-to-back with the Canadian Grand Prix -- may have dashed Nico Hulkenberg's hopes of defending his Le Mans 24 Hours crown as it clashes with the famous endurance event on June 19. The FIA says the start time will be "scheduled to avoid conflict" with the conclusion of the race.

Hungary has moved to July to allow for the traditional three-week break in August following requests from the teams to allow their staff to have a mid-season break. The British Grand Prix has also been pushed into July, meaning it now clashes with the Wimbledon tennis grand slam finals weekend.

The season will end in Abu Dhabi on November 27.
