Danica Patrick lacking 'desire' for Formula One

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick says she does "not really have the desire" to race in Formula One.

Patrick, a household name in America after success in IndyCar, has been linked to F1 several times since the start of her racing career. The imminent arrival of American outfit Haas F1 on the 2016 grid means a potential switch has been talked about again, though the tweaked rules to the FIA superlicence make an immediate step up to the grid impossible for the 33-year-old.

Patrick says she has all but given up on ambitions of ever racing in F1 before she retires.

"I'm getting too old to change careers again and again, and I don't really have a desire to do anything different than what I'm doing right now," Patrick told CNN. "I'm around my friends and family, and I'm racing internationally, and F1 I don't think would really provide that.

"I lived in England for a few years and F1 was all I thought about doing, but to be honest when I came back home to the States I thought this is where I want to be. You can never say never about anything, but at this point in time, I'm happy where I'm at."

Patrick became the first woman to win an IndyCar race at Motegi in 2008. She has driven in NASCAR since 2011.
