Jenson Button could become a co-presenter on the BBC's popular car show Top Gear, according to reports in the UK.
Top Gear is undergoing a period of change after the BBC released former host Jeremy Clarkson from his contract in March following an physical altercation with one of the show's producers. Clarkson's former co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May will not be appearing on the new series either.
Former radio DJ Chris Evans has been named the show's new host but question-marks surround who his co-hosts will be. The Daily Mail reports Button, who is currently in his 16th season of Formula One, is in talks with Evans about a part on the revamped show when it launches next year.
Button's future in F1 is far from certain, with the second year of his McLaren contract an option which needs to be taken up by the team. With Kevin Magnussen and GP2 championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne waiting in the wings McLaren faces another tough choice about next season's driver line-up, as it did at the end of 2014 when picking Fernando Alonso's team-mate.
However, co-hosting a television show would hardly prevent Button continuing in F1 if McLaren decided to retain the 2009 world champion.
