Alan Coleman is to step down as Middlesex's director of cricket at the end of the 2026 season, after five years in the role.
Coleman took up the position in 2021, upon the departure of Stuart Law as head coach, having previously served as Middlesex's assistant coach and academy director.
In a role that spanned both the men's and women's senior squad, the highlights of Coleman's tenure included the men's promotion to Division One of the County Championship in 2022, and Sunrisers' victory in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in 2024.
His departure follows the recent confirmation that Andrew Cornish, the club's former chief executive, was sacked in June, seven months after he took "a leave of absence" following a Cricket Regulator investigation into his conduct.
The club was also placed in special measures by the ECB in September 2023, following breaches of the County Partnership Agreement (CPA) and financial regulations.
"I've been extremely proud to lead the cricket at the club I've supported since I was a child," Coleman said. "I am proud of what has been achieved in what is widely known as one of the most difficult periods off the field the club has faced."
"I've been fortunate to work with some fantastic players and staff who have given their all. I'd like to make specific mention to the Head Coaches: Richard Johnson, Dane Vilas and Peter Fulton with the men's team, and Andy Tennant and Marc Broom with our women's teams, as well as Danni Warren as regional Director of Cricket for Sunrisers, who have been a pleasure to work alongside during this period."
Middlesex Cricket's Interim CEO, Julie Harrington, said: "I would like to thank Alan for everything he has done for the club during his tenure, and on behalf of everybody at the club, I wish him well for what's to come.
"Although I have only been at Middlesex for a short period of time, it has been very clear how dedicated Alan has been in the role, and the club's successes are a testament to his hard work.
"I am grateful for the early notice provided by Alan, and the planning to appoint his successor has already begun. His philosophy of wanting to win with homegrown players is very much something that we will build on in the years ahead."
Coleman will remain in the role until at least the end of the calendar year, overseeing the start of the winter training programme and aiding in the transition period.
