That wraps up our IPL coverage for today. Only one game tomorrow, and don't forget to log in for the fun then. On behalf of the Cricinfo army, this is Nitin Sundar signing off. Cheers and take care!
Right then, that was a pretty good game of T20 cricket. The quality of fielding has been a worry at times, but this game was top-drawer. Mumbai look a complete package, and are winning despite carrying a couple of passengers in their team. Chennai, as they have in each of the past three seasons, are running into a mid-season rut and need to find a way out. They have done it each time in the past. Should be fun to see how they go on.
Presentations:
Man of the Match goes, deservedly, to Harbhajan: "Glad things worked out today. We played really good cricket and fielder brilliantly. We played better cricket that Chennai over-all. In T20, you either get wickets or go for a lot of runs. Things went my way today, getting Raina out initially was important, and later we focused on getting the required rate up. The wicket that got Anirudha was lucky, but over-all I was quite relaxed, and that helped me think better and execute well." Boy, what Zen quotes these!
Tendulkar: "Unbelievable fielding. Brillant catches. Superb ground-fielding. We were may be 10-15 runs short. Rohit thought 160 was defendable. He batted brilliantly. The plan when Malinga came back to Hussey was to bowl a bouncer. We had to get Hussey out to win the game, and the Malinga-Pollard combination was fabulous. I thought the fielders created opportunities today."
Dhoni: "I think 160 was very gettable, it was a really nice wicket. I think the difference was in the fielding. They took 2 really good catches, while we backed out of two catches. Happy with our performance, but fielding could have been just a little better. Our bowling in the last few overs were really well. We did not have enough part-timers today, so that was a gamble that did not work - still great work from the bowlers - Albie first and Dougie in the end."
Jaymin: "Last World Cup Winners - Men in Yellow; Last IPL Winners - Men in Yellow; This World Cup Winners - Men in Blue; This IPL Winners? - You do the math."
Sam D: "Heres tomorrows headline: The Turbanator sinks the Submarine" Chennai did not need a submarine... they were already under water... What they need is a rocket launcher."
Eshant: "Mumbai vada pav too hot for Chennai`s idli dosa."
This has been, arguably, the best fielding effort so far in the tournament. Mumbai's bowling wasn't always up to the mark, but they fielded like monsters and it was that pressure that dragged CSK down. They didn't help their cause with some questionable shot-selection from the tail. Badri was starved of strike, and that proved decisive. Mumbai become the first team to get eight points and lead the table. CSK languish at ninth.
