That was remarkable. The Strikers appeared to be a long way short with the bat and when the Sixers were 0 for 34 after four overs the game looked dead and buried. They then lost 5 for 12 in 27 deliveries and it only got worse from there. The Strikers executed their plans very well, mixing their pace and bowling to their fields but it was their catching that was most impressive. They held every half chance including a couple of brilliant caught and bowled dismissals. That gets them off the mark in this competition while the Sixers slump to 2-2 after four games.
Sean Abbott has been named Man of the Match for his 5 for 16, the second best figures in BBL history.
Abbott: "I'd be lying if I said I was't thinking about last year's game. I had a good feeling about tonight. I'd trained well.
"While it's nice to get some wickets its disappointing not to get the team result."
That concludes our coverage from Adelaide Oval. Join us tomorrow for a BBL double header on New Year's day. The Melbourne derby at the MCG will be a blockbuster in front of a potential crowd of 80,000. Then the Scorchers host the Thunder at the WACA.
Have a safe and happy New Year's!
