The main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night pits Anderson Silva against Michael Bisping in a middleweight fight at The O2 Arena in London. ESPN Stats & Information breaks down the top stats to know about the fight:
Silva will fight for the first time in 13 months, since his win over Nick Diaz at UFC 183 was overturned because of a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs.
Silva, ranked seventh, has 11 knockouts in UFC fights, second most in UFC history to Vitor Belfort’s 12. His 33-6 record (with one no-contest) includes a 16-2 mark in UFC.
The sixth-ranked Bisping is 27-7 (including 17-7 in UFC). He was the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter” in Season Three.
According to 5Dimes on Monday, Silva was a minus-310 favorite (meaning a successful $310 bet on him would net $100), and Bisping was a plus-255 underdog (a $100 bet would net $255).
Silva notes
Silva was UFC middleweight champion from 2006 to 2013.
He has six wins by submission in addition to 20 overall knockout victories. He has been on the losing end of knockouts in two of his past three fights, though, a stretch that has come after a 17-fight winning streak.
Before losing to Chris Weidman in 2013, Silva had a record 10 successful title defenses.
According to FightMetric, Silva has 12 knockdowns landed, which is the most in division history.
Bisping notes
Of Bisping’s 27 overall wins, 15 have come by knockout and four by submission. He has alternated wins and losses in his past nine fights and is coming off a win in his most recent fight.
Bisping has landed 1,102 significant strikes in UFC bouts, according to FightMetric. That’s the most in division history, 430 more than anyone else in the division.
FightMetric also shows Bisping with the UFC's best significant strike defense in division history (68.6 percent).
Weidman perspective
Weidman, who is 2-0 against Silva (both second-round knockouts in UFC championship fights) will be an analyst on SportsCenter this weekend talking about the fight. Weidman has not fought Bisping.
