Bristol have announced the signing of Shane Geraghty from London Irish with immediate effect.
Geraghty, who won six England caps, can play across fly-half and inside centre and will bolster Bristol's efforts to stay in the top flight.
Bristol have been hit by a series of injuries in and around fly-half with Tusi Pisi, Adrian Jarvis and Gavin Henson all sidelined and Geraghty will give them much needed depth in that position.
"Shane brings with him a knowledge of top-level rugby and an understanding of the rigours and demands of Premiership rugby," Bristol boss Andy Robinson said.
"He can play at fly half and inside centre, has a good kicking percentage and has the ability to create opportunities through his distribution and footwork.
"Shane comes into the squad on Monday and we are confident he can add something to us, especially in an area where we are short of players at the moment."
Geraghty added: "I'm pleased to be joining Bristol Rugby and I'm looking forward to working hard and contributing where I can.
"I know just how tough it is to be competitive in the Aviva Premiership, but all the right ingredients are there for the club to be successful.
"I'd like to thank London Irish for their continued support and I'm now excited about this opportunity and working with Andy [Robinson] and the team here."
