The Giants signed two first-round draft picks in DT Dexter Lawrence and CB DeAndre Baker. Lawrence was slotted for four years and $13.2M fully guaranteed as the 17th pick and Baker four years and $10.5M as the 30th pick. Only Daniel Jones and Oshane Ximines remain unsigned.

Breaking Big Blue with Jordan Raanan

ESPN Giants reporter Jordan Raanan explains why there is no real QB competition this summer between Eli Manning and Daniel Jones. He also breaks down OTAs and minicamp.

The Giants held their final OTA on Thursday morning. Started early and players were out early. Now most of the players head home for almost six weeks until they report to training camp in late July. This is the true NFL offseason.

Sterling Shepard says on The Adam Schefter podcast that after his contract extension he paid off the loans on his mother's house. Why? Cheri Shepard raised and always provided for her 3 kids after Derrick Shepard tragically passed when Sterling was a young kid. Pretty awesome gesture and payback.

Coach Pat Shurmur: Eli Manning is getting ready to have an outstanding year. Daniel Jones is getting ready to play Week 1. Asked if there is a scenario Jones could start Week 1: "You never know what is going to happen."

Evan Engram has been nursing a hamstring injury. That's why he's missed OTAs and minicamp. Giants are being smart with him. Coach Pat Shurmur said he fully expects him to be ready for training camp.

Redskins safety Landon Collins told reporters at a charity event Saturday that Washington is using him the way "Spags did," referring to former Giants defensive coordinator and interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo. This heat map from NFL Next Gen Stats shows Collins' pre-snap alignment in 2018 under Pat Shurmur and James Bettcher. The two prior seasons Collins lined up as a deep safety away from the line of scrimmage much more often.

Some minicamp observations: — Corey Coleman played as the third WR alongside Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate a bunch. Coach Pat Shurmur said their is an "opportunity to be a frontline player." Coleman has been making some plays. Needs to be consistent. — Rookie Darius Slayton made his mark. He's a downfield threat. Shook off his early case of dropsies when he first arrived well. — First-round CB DeAndre Baker can play. Always on the back of the man he's guarding. — Good to see rookie CB Corey Ballentine on the field and making plays. He was working with the second-team defense Thursday and knocked down a fade to Cody Latimer. — Middle of the field vs LBs and safeties remains the weak spot of this defense. It's where opposing teams will continue to attack relentlessly until the Giants prove they can stop it. — FB Elijhaa Penny caught a bunch of passes out of the backfield this week. Could be a new wrinkle to the offense. — There is a legit competition at center with Jon Halapio and Spencer Pulley each getting plenty of first-team reps. That will be decided this summer. No real evaluations from me of linemen at minicamp and OTAs in helmets and shorts.

Shurmur: OBJ praise of Mayfield not a shot at Eli

Giants coach Pat Shurmer said Odell Beckham Jr.'s praise of Browns QB Baker Mayfield is more of him "getting comfortable with his guys" rather than a shot at Eli Manning.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Pat Shurmur views Odell Beckham's assessment of Baker Mayfield's arm strength being greater than Eli Manning's as "less criticism of Eli ... more, ‘hey, he likes who he's playing with.'"

The Giants have restructured their front office and football operations by adding Chad Klunder as first scout coordinator and Brendan Prophett as area scout (Midwest). Tim McDonnell was promoted from pro scout to assistant director of player personnel. Corey Lockett moved from pro personnel intern to pro scout. Chris Pridy went from coaches assistant to director of football administration. Ben Burress and Kevin Monangai were added to the coaching staff. Pete Guelli is the team's new senior VP and Chief Commercial Officer.

Noticeable again Wednesday at minicamp was the precision that rookie QB Daniel Jones has with his deep ball. Looks like a strength, not weakness. He dropped several in perfectly during practice, including one down sideline to Darius Slayton. The two rookies seem to be developing nice chemistry.

The star of minicamp practice #2 was undrafted TE C.J. Conrad out of Kentucky. He was catching passes left and right, including multiple TDs from Daniel Jones. Definitely a name to watch this summer after coach Pat Shurmur noted he's one of the young players that has "taken advantage" of his reps this spring.

The entire Giants organization came out to put together care packages for children of survivors of domestic violence through My Sisters' Place in Westchester County. WR Russell Shepard addressed the room and challenged everyone to "make a difference" in the community.
