Enzo Maresca's side pulled off a late comeback to defeat Bournemouth in their 2026-27 season opener, with Marc Guéhi's strike and an injury-time winner from Josko Gvardiol giving City a 2-1 victory.
Palace, meanwhile, suffered a 0-2 defeat away to Everton in Pierre Sage's first game in charge in the league, and will hope for a swift return to form at home against last season's runners-up.

Sage has uphill task at Palace
With deadline day approaching, Crystal Palace face interest in two of their most crucial players -- Jean-Philippe Mateta and Adam Wharton. These are players a team builds around, and the uncertainty surrounding their future certainly will not help Sage's plans.
City are certainly a tough opponent, especially after the opening day loss to Everton. However, Sage can take solace from the fact that his side generated 1.96 xG and that Eddie Nketiah and Mateta both hit the post, so the scoreline was a bit of a misnomer.
Palace have the attacking nous to cause City's defence plenty of problems, much like Bournemouth did in the season opener. If Sage can get his three-man backline to hold firm, the hosts can pull off an upset at Selhurst Park.
Will City's midfield reinforcements work?
Enzo Maresca made quite the point to the City bigwigs with his use of Marc Guehi in midfield in the opener, and they have responded, with a €100m purchase of Ayoub Bouaddi from Lille. City's midfield pivot now boasts of two of the most expensive players of all time and Maresca certainly cannot claim that he has not been backed in the market.
Yet, City's most influential midfield player this season might be Rayan Cherki, whose cameo was instrumental in the 2-1 comeback victory against Bournemouth. The Frenchman's ability to open up low blocks is unparalleled and he will be crucial against Palace.
City also looked a little vulnerable at right back against both Bournemouth and Arsenal, so whether Maresca might even choose to use Bouaddi in that role is certainly a possibility, especially since Anderson can handle defensive responsibilities and build-up from the midfield alongside Kovacic.
