Villarreal v Napoli

It is all over at the Estadio de la Ceramica, as Villarreal pick up their first win of this season’s Champions League, beating Napoli 3-1. The hosts went behind inside the opening 10 minutes of the match, when Rrahmani found the back of the net, on his second attempt, from close range. Hojlund hit the post just a minute before Villarreal equalised as the Danish striker’s header just missed the target. Politano will not want to watch back the equaliser, as his loose pass set Mikautadze on the path to round Milinkovic-Savic, before passing into the empty net from a tight angle. Just three minutes after they went level, Mourino gave the hosts the lead. He took on a strike from distance, beating the outstretched keeper as his effort nestled into the top-left corner. The second half was dominated by Villarreal, who took the game out of Napoli’s reach with just four minutes left. Oluwaseyi picked up the loose touch from Ayoze Perez, before rifling the ball into the back of the net, not giving Milinkovic-Savic enough time to react. That was it for the action on the night, with the hosts scoring three goals from just 1.34 xG (Napoli had 1.87 xG). Villarreal now jump up to 10th in the Champions League after their first win in 13 matches in the competition and face a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool next. For Napoli, they find themselves in 31st place, and host fellow pointless side Bodo/Glimt in their next match. Thank you all for tuning into tonight’s coverage and have a great rest of your evening!

FULL-TIME: VILLARREAL 3-1 NAPOLI

Villarreal are now content to just keep hold of the ball, but they aren't just sitting in. They are still looking for gaps in the Napoli defence and remain the most likely to find the next goal.

There will be a minimum of three minutes of added time

Surely that is all chances of Napoli taking anything from tonight gone. They have been second best and have failed to match the enthusiasm and energy of Villarreal.

Ayoze Perez picks up an assist just three minutes after his introduction.
