UCF Knights vs UCLA Bruins

Garcia's 2 homers, 7 RBIs power UCLA to 14-4 win over UCF
Freshman Aleena Garcia hit two home runs and drove in a career-high seven runs as UCLA defeated UCF 14-4 in Game 2 of the NCAA super regional on Saturday at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles.
Garcia, who went 3-for-4, led a Bruins offense that also saw home runs from Alexis Ramirez and Bri Alejandre. Ramirez went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Alejandre went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Jordan Woolery also contributed, going 3-for-5 with an RBI for UCLA (52-8). The Bruins' power was on full display, with Alejandre's seventh-inning shot marking the team's historic 200th home run of the season.
UCF (41-19-1) struck first when Aubrey Evans hit a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning. The lead was short-lived, as UCLA took a 2-1 lead in the third on a sacrifice fly from Megan Grant and an RBI single from Garcia. The Bruins never trailed again, adding a solo homer from Ramirez in the fourth to make it 3-1. UCLA added three runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and five more in the seventh. Garcia's three-run homer in the sixth and another three-run shot in the seventh highlighted the late-game surge.
UCLA starter Taylor Tinsley went the distance to secure the victory. She pitched 7 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out 11 and walking three.
For the Knights, Evans finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs, including her first-inning homer and a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Izzy Mertes led UCF with three hits, going 3-for-4. The Knights threatened multiple times, loading the bases in the fourth and fifth innings. They scored three runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 6-4 but were unable to keep pace with the Bruins offense. Tori Payne started for UCF and took the loss, allowing six earned runs in 4.2 innings. The Knights used five pitchers who combined to walk eight batters and hit three more.
