Emerling, Pickering power Oklahoma past Kansas 9-0 in postseason shutout

The Oklahoma Sooners secured a 9-0 run-rule victory over the Kansas Jayhawks in an NCAA regional matchup that ended after five innings on Saturday at Love's Field in Norman, Oklahoma.

Isabela Emerling and Kasidi Pickering led the charge for Oklahoma, each hitting a home run. Emerling went a perfect 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. The Sooners broke the game open with a three-run second inning, highlighted by Pickering's two-run shot and Emerling's solo blast that made it 3-0. Gabbie Garcia also contributed significantly, driving in two runs on a 1-for-2 day. Abby Dayton added an RBI double, and Kai Minor chipped in with an RBI single.

In the circle, Oklahoma pitcher Miali Guachino was nearly untouchable. She tossed a one-hitter, striking out six batters and allowing no walks over five shutout innings to stifle the Jayhawks' offense.

The Sooners put the game away with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the fourth inning. The rally included RBI doubles from Emerling and Dayton, an RBI single from Minor, and a two-run single from Garcia. The final run scored on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 9-0.

Kansas struggled to generate any offense against Guachino. The Jayhawks' only hit of the game came from second baseman Campbell Bagshaw, who finished 1-for-2. Starting pitcher Chloe Barber worked three innings, allowing six earned runs on four hits. Reliever Kaelee Washington surrendered three earned runs in her one inning in the circle.
