Chicago State hires Sardin as women's coach

Chicago State fired women's basketball coach Misty Opat on Thursday after two seasons and a 3-55 record. Chicago State has nine straight losing seasons and hasn't won more than six games in that span.
Chicago State said, based on conversations with the WAC and a review of "current information available" about the coronavirus, they would travel to the men's and women's conference tournaments, which take place March 11-14 in Las Vegas.
Chicago State said late Tuesday its men's basketball team will not travel for two conference games this week and that its women's team will not host two games, citing the spread of the coronavirus.
With their 59-43 loss to Grand Canyon on Saturday, Chicago State set the women's Division I record with 59 consecutive losses.
Chicago State dropped its 58th straight game to tie the longest losing streak in Division I women's basketball, falling 63-36 to Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday night.
