Yeboah, Saintel help Stony Brook upset Albany 69-60
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Akwasi Yeboah and Junior Saintel combined for 35 points and No. 5 seed Stony Brook led wire-to-wire, ousting fourth-seeded Albany 69-60 in an America East Tournament quarterfinal Saturday night.
Stony Brook (13-18) travels to meet top-seeded Vermont (26-6) in a semifinal on Tuesday.
Albany (22-10) trailed by 14 in the second half but chewed that down to 49-48 when Joe Cremo hit consecutive 3-pointers and David Nicholls a layup to cap a 15-2 run over the next three-plus minutes. Devonte Campbell again the gap to one point with 4:38 left but Yeboah scored a layup and a 3-pointer, and Jakub Petras added layup and a dunk, in a 9-1 run as Stony Brook regained some distance.
The Seawolves made five of six from the line in the last minute to seal the win. Albany missed its last two shots from behind the arc.
Yeboah scored 18 with four treys, Saintel 17 for Stony Brook.
Cremo led the Great Danes with 24 points and five 3-pointers.
