Vermont holds off Harvard 62-56 for 9th victory
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Payton Henson finished with 17 points and slammed a dunk in the final seconds to secure Vermont's 62-56 win over Harvard on Tuesday night.
Harvard's Seth Towns missed a 3-pointer on the other end. Ernie Duncan grabbed the rebound and Trae Bell-Haynes, who finished with 11 points, made two free throws to seal Vermont's third win in the last four games.
Harvard had a 31-30 halftime advantage. Vermont (9-5) changed that quickly as Bell-Haynes opened the second period with a layup and Everett Duncan followed with a 3-pointer. The teams swapped the lead until Ernie Duncan and Drew Urquhart, who also had 11 points, drilled consecutive 3s for a 51-44 lead. Everett Duncan followed with another trey to give the Catamounts a 54-48 lead with 5:02 left.
Harvard's Christian Juzang had a layup and Towns, who totaled 13 points, hit a jumper to close to 57-56 with 48 seconds left.
Chris Lewis had 14 points to lead Harvard (5-9), which lost its first home game.
