Canisius pulls away midway through 2nd, beats Niagara 95-88
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- Isaiah Reese scored 26 points and Canisius beat Niagara 95-88 on Wednesday night.
Canisius (20-10, 14-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) rebounded from a one-point loss to Rider on Sunday and has won seven of its last eight games. Niagara (18-12, 11-6) had its four-game win streak snapped.
Reese was 9 of 15 from the floor and made four 3-pointers. Jermaine Crumpton added 16 points for the Golden Griffins, who shot 30 of 59 (51 percent) overall.
Kahlil Dukes scored 23 points and Marvin Prochet had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead Niagara.
The Purple Eagles closed the first half on a 5-0 spurt for a 40-37 halftime lead. It was tied 58-58 with 11:19 remaining when Canisius used a 25-10 run for an 83-69 lead with 5:23 to play and cruised from there.
