Germany v Peru
Nico Schulz scores on debut as Germany leave it late vs. Peru
Nico Schulz scored late on his international debut to help Germany avoid a home draw against Peru in an friendly on Sunday.
Schulz struck with just five minutes remaining after Julian Brandt had cancelled out Luis Advíncula's stunning opener in Sinsheim.
The four-time world champions were down after just 22 minutes when right-back Advincula beat a man down the right flank and fired past Germany keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen from an angle.
Brandt answered just three minutes later -- the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder deftly chipping over Pedro Gallese with his right foot after a bad Peru giveaway near their own box.
But debutant Schulz calmed nerves in the 85th minute. Playing on his home ground, the Hoffenheim man pounced on a loose ball at the top of the box before seeing his left-footed shot deflect off a defender and sneak past Gallese at the far post.
