Wimbledon v Hartlepool
All too easy for AFC Wimbledon as they secure third straight win
Callum Kennedy's first-ever AFC Wimbledon goal set the home side on their way to a comfortable 2-0 victory over struggling Hartlepool.Kennedy's free-kick eluded everyone in the box to give the home side the lead after 18 minutes at Kingsmeadow. And 10 minutes later a third straight win was all-but confirmed as Lyle Taylor fired home a clinical half-volley in off the post.Wimbledon deservedly went ahead when a 30-yard free-kick from Kennedy, aiming for Ade Azeez at the back post, eluded everybody and looped into the top-left corner past goalkeeper Trevor Carson.Carson then pulled off a brilliant fingertip save to deny George Francomb who had cut in from the right, but Taylor doubled the home side's lead with his fourth goal in three games.Carson brilliantly denied Azeez and Taylor from close range before Wimbledon were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes left when Kudus Oyenuga brought down Taylor. But Taylor's penalty crashed against the post and straight at Dannie Bulman, whose shot on the rebound drew an excellent reaction save from Carson. Adebayo Akinfenwa had a header ruled out for offside from the resulting corner.
