The second half was a significantly more low-key affair, though Martinez had the easiest of goals to stretch the lead after Pokatilov got in a muddle from Zirkzee's backheel, which came from Fernandes' quickly taken free-kick. United's superior xG of 3.67 to 0.89 gives you an indication of the gulf in class but, fair play to United, they did a very professional job. Bigger tests lie in store for Carrick's men, who travel to the Metropolitano to face Atletico Madrid for their next Champions League clash.
