In truth, it could've been more than the one goal, as reflected by the Gunners' 4.05 xG to Napoli's 0.22, but the three points are all that matters for last season's runners-up. Saka and Merino both squandered guilt-edged chances in the first half, as Napoli absorbed the pressure and looked threatening at times on the break through the likes of De Bruyne and Politano. With the game still goalless going into the second half, it was largely more of the same, as Arsenal couldn't find their shooting boots. Hincapie failed to find a decisive touch in front of goal five minutes after the restart, before, after plenty of probing, Odegaard rifled a thunderbolt off the left-hand post and into the net to break the deadlock and continue his superb early-season form. As Allegri's side searched for an equaliser, space opened up for Madueke to double the visitors' lead, but he, like many others, couldn't find the net. De Bruyne then looked to haunt the Gunners with a late, late chance, but his cross-shot couldn't test Raya. Havertz did have the ball in the net from an offside position right at the death, but it's yet another clean sheet for the Premier League champions, and another win. Arsenal now turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they travel to Sunderland, while Napoli look to respond from three consecutive defeats at home to Bologna.
