Rutgers to replace A&M in Gator Bowl vs. Wake

Rutgers (5-7) will replace Texas A&M as the opponent for Wake Forest in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, it was announced Thursday. It will be the first bowl appearance for the Scarlet Knights since 2014.

NCAA clears way for 5-7 Rutgers as Gator fill-in

Rutgers will be given the opportunity to fill in for Texas A&M in the Gator Bowl against Wake Forest after an NCAA committee decided Thursday to adhere to an existing policy for making teams with 5-7 records bowl eligible.

A&M out of Gator because of COVID-19, injuries

Texas A&M will not participate in the Gator Bowl, saying it does not have enough players to participate because of COVID-19 issues and injuries within the program. Bowl officials are looking for a replacement team to face Wake Forest on Dec. 31.
