Kennesaw State blanks Buccaneers 38-0, sets up title game
KENNESAW, Ga. -- Darnell Holland rushed for 109 yards and three touchdowns and Kennesaw State rolled over Charleston Southern 38-0 on Saturday, setting up a showdown for the Big South championship next week.
The Owls (9-1, 4-0) extended the longest win streak in school history to nine and will be host to Monmouth (4-0) to determine the conference champion and automatic bid to the FCS playoffs.
The Buccaneers (5-5, 2-2), who were champions last year and co-champs in 2016, had their string of eight straight conference road victories dating to 2014 end.
Kennesaw State, the nation's leading rushing team, rolled up 343 yards on the ground, outgained Charleston Southern 411-187 and scored 21 points off four turnovers.
Holland scored on runs of 21, 8 and 1 yards to account for the Owls' 21-0 halftime lead. Redshirt freshman quarterback Tommy Bryant scored on his first play of the game on a 51-yard keeper late in the contest.
