Morgan scores 17, Cornell edges Brown 73-68
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Matt Morgan scored 17 points and Stone Gettings made the clinching free throws with 6.8 seconds left and Cornell defeated Brown 73-68 on Saturday night.
It was a Gettings' jumper that gave the Big Red (12-13, 5-7 Ivy League) the lead for good at 67-66 with two minutes to play. Jack Gordon made a pair of free throws with 15.9 seconds left to make it a two possession game. Then the Bears, who also a critical turnover in the final minute, missed another free throw before Gettings iced it.
Cornell used a 13-0 run for a 60-50 lead with 8:13 to play. The Bears (11-14, 4-8) came right back with a 14-3 run, going up 64-63 at 3:24.
Gettings had 12 points for Cornell, which won its 200th game at Newman Arena.
Tamenang Choh had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Brown with Obi Okolie adding 15 and eight.
