Canisius ties for 1st in MAAC with 81-63 win over Fairfield
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Jermaine Crumpton had 21 points and 10 rebounds on Monday night and Canisius pulled away early in the second half for an 81-63 win over Fairfield.
The Golden Griffins (18-9, 12-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) won their fifth straight and pulled even with Rider for first place in the conference standings.
Canisius trailed by two early in the second half before outscoring the Stags 21-2 over a 10-minute stretch to lead 66-49. Fairfield (10-15, 5-9) got the deficit no closer than 14 from there.
Takal Molson added 16 points and Malik Johnson had 15 points and a career-high 10 rebounds for Canisius. Crumpton made 3 of 5 from 3-point range and the Griffins went 12 for 32.
Wassef Methnani had 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead Fairfield. Tyler Nelson added 13 points and Jonathan Kasibabu scored 12.
