Hull City continue their perfect start to the Premier League season as they defeat Coventry City 1-0 at the CBS Arena thanks to a late winner from Millar. Spirits were high for Coventry as they hosted their first Premier League game in 25 years, and this carried onto the pitch as they dominated throughout the first half. Awoniyi came closest for the Sky Blues, seeing his header from inside the box saved by Tzolakis, who managed to get down to the bottom corner. Frustrations began to show in the second half for the hosts, with Mendy rifling a volley from distance to test Rushworth. It was the arrival of Millar which made the difference for Hull. The Canadian had the chance to put his side ahead, dragging his shot wide on the counterattack. He would redeem himself minutes later, being set free by Belloumi then calmly slotting it past Rushworth after travelling from the halfway line. Despite the scoreline, it was Coventry who had the higher xG of 1.28 to Hull’s 0.73. Next up for Coventry is a trip to the Etihad Stadium where they face Manchester City.
