Commentary
The full-time whistle sounds at St. James' Park as Everton defeat Newcastle United 1-0, with the Magpies reduced to 10 after Ramsey’s late sending off. Everton took the lead in the 49th minute after George’s strike squirmed underneath Hornicek, allowing Barry to tap into an empty net. Hornicek looked to make amends, first denying Dewsbury-Hall’s long-range effort before tipping O'Brien’s header past the upright. Newcastle, who were largely poor for most of the contest, almost found the back of the net, but Elanga’s deft touch at the back post deflected off Pickford, and onto the upright before spinning off the line. Substitute Ramsey almost made an immediate impact, but his clean attempt from outside the box, flew inches past the left-hand post. The Magpies had one last chance to score in the 90th minute, but Pickford did brilliantly to deny Wissa’s close-range strike with his right boot. Ramsey’s second-half stoppage time red card capped off a miserable contest for Jaissle’s side, who were booed off at full-time. The hosts created 17 shots with two on target, reflected by an xG of 1.47, whereas the visitors registered 16 shots with five on target, highlighted by an xG of 2.15. That concludes our live commentary of this contest. We hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and take care!

YELLOW! Johnson is also booked for his part in the melee. This is spiralling out of control!

YELLOW! In the aftermath of that Ramsey challenge, Schar is booked after a confrontation with Johnson!

HE HAS LOST HIS HEAD! RAMSEY HAS NOW BEEN SENT OFF! After failing to control the ball, the substitute catches the ankle of Armstrong, who is in pain! That was more than frustration!

YELLOW! Ramsey shows his frustration as he hacks down Hackney on the halfway line. That pretty much sums up the home side on Monday...
