Creel throws 4 of 5 TD passes to Williams as Jacksonville State beats Eastern Kentucky 49-7
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- — Caden Creel threw four of his five touchdown passes to Jamill Williams to lead Jacksonville State to a 49-7 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday night.
Creel completed 21 of 28 passes for 327 yards and Williams made seven catches for 144 yards. Jalen Likely added 73 yards rushing on five carries for Jacksonville State (1-1).
The Gamecocks built a 35-7 halftime lead. Creel connected with Williams three times for touchdowns, Caleb Nix scored on a 43-yard interception return and Likely broke loose on a 45-yard TD run. Creel completed 12 of 16 passes for 174 yards in the first half and Williams made five catches for 109 yards.
Brady Hensley ran for a 72-yard touchdown for Eastern Kentucky (0-2). Tyler Travers completed 12 of 19 passes for 90 yards and threw two interceptions for the Colonels.
The Gamecocks had 526 yards of offense and were 9 of 11 on third-down conversions.
Eastern Kentucky: Hosts Chattanooga on Saturday.
