Simpson in hospital scare

Glasgow back-row Gordon Simpson will miss his side's Heineken Cup trip to Northampton after being admitted to hospital with abdominal trouble.

After a year in the international wilderness, Simpson was drafted back into the Scotland side for the recent Six Nations victory over Ireland at Murrayfield.

However, the Auckland-born player now finds his career on hold once again after he was discovered to have an infection in his abdominal wall.

He is likely to be released at the weekend and will hope to be available for Glasgow's next game against Caerphilly in the Welsh-Scottish League on October 12.
