Dustin Poirier-Benoit Saint Denis back on for UFC 299 in March

Dustin Poirier's scheduled fight against Benoit Saint Denis is back on for UFC 299, after Poirier stated he "jumped the gun" on comments he made Thursday morning.

Poirier (29-8) announced the fight was off via social media, and told ESPN he and the UFC were unable to come to financial terms for the bout. Poirier later clarified it was a "misunderstanding" on his part, and the fight is back on.

The 155-pound matchup will serve as the co-main event of UFC 299 on March 9 in Miami. A bantamweight title fight between Sean O'Malley and Marlon Vera shares top billing.

Poirier, 35, hasn't fought since he suffered a knockout loss to Justin Gaethje in a BMF title fight in July. He is coming off the most high-profile stretch of his career, a three-year run that has included two fights against Conor McGregor, a title fight against Charles Oliveira, a fan favorite bout with Michael Chandler and the BMF fight.

Saint Denis, 28, is on a five-fight win streak.
