Fiorentina trio face sanctions

The Lega Serie A have come down hard on Fiorentina, their coach Vincenzo Montella and midfielder Borja Valero for their conduct towards the end of the 2-2 draw with Parma on Monday.

Borja Valero has been suspended for four matches after being shown a red card by the referee in stoppage time.

The midfielder "vehemently pushed an opposing player, putting his hands on his chest" as well as "putting a hand on the shoulder of the referee and pushing him."

As a result, the Spaniard will miss Fiorentina's games against Lazio, Juventus, Chievo and Napoli.

Gianni Muntari, the Parma player Borja Valero clashed with, has got away with a one-game ban while Modibo Diakite, who was also sent off in Monday's Stadio Tardini encounter, will miss Fiorentina's game against Lazio.

Montella has also been handed a one-match touchline ban for "making an insulting remark about the referee to the additional referee as he entered the dressing room."

He will therefore miss the Lazio clash, but will be back for the Viola's first of potentially three meetings with Juventus in just over a week. They meet the Bianconeri in Serie A on March 9 before facing them away and then home in the Europa League, should both sides successfully come through the second legs of their last-32 ties on Thursday.

Juve defend a 2-0 lead over Trabzonspor when they travel to Turkey while Fiorentina hold a 3-1 advantage when they host Esbjerg.
