Over in the Ethiopian top flight, Welwalo Adigrat University fell to a 1-0 defeat against Fasil Kenema at the weekend with the decisive goal coming via a truly outstanding goalkeeping error.
After doing well to gather an angled shot, the Welwalo 'keeper stood up, suffered a rush of blood to the head and hurled the ball into his own net.
However, rather than simply accepting his error, the stopper instead grabbed the ball and attempted to convince everybody that it hadn't happened.
Unfortunately for the goalkeeper, his abject howler was spotted by the players, the referee, the crowd and the several TV cameras peppered around the stadium -- with the own-goal duly allowed to stand.
The result also left Welwalo dangling perilously just two points above the Ethiopian Premier League relegation zone.
