Mourinho to upset Man United in Tottenham win?

play
Has Mourinho restored the swagger at Tottenham? (1:18)

After Spurs' third consecutive win under Jose Mourinho, Steve Nicol is still cautious of their defensive lapses. (1:18)

A winning weekend for the column after we tipped Raheem Sterling to score first against Newcastle and wins for Tottenham and Leicester City. The Premier League action continues in midweek with the Merseyside derby among the highlights.

Running total: +£38.12

The Banker

The Reds are now as short as 1/4 to win a first domestic title since 1990 and are priced up at 4/11 to win against Everton this week. Marco Silva is on the brink at Goodison after three defeats in five matches has left the Toffees fourth from bottom.

Silva went with a 5-4-1 formation against Leicester and may employ the same tactics at Anfield, where Liverpool have a 100% record this season. In the Premier League era this is a fixture that Liverpool have dominated and it's hard to make a case for an upset here. Everton are averaging just a goal a game so far this term while the Reds are averaging 2.29 goals per match. Everton haven't won at the home of their red rivals since September 1999 and even the most optimistic of Everton fans must surely be fearing the worst here?

Curiously, for a team riding so high at present, and considering how good they were defensively last season, Liverpool have only kept two clean sheets all season so backing them to win and both teams to score at 7/4 could be the bet here.

Selection: £4 on Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 7/4 with bet365.

The Tasty Treble

Jose Mourinho's return to Old Trafford with Tottenham this week should be special and we fancy Spurs at 13/8 to beat a Manchester United side who have drawn their last two in the league. Indeed since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed permanent manager the Red Devils have won only six times in 22 league games and look up against it against free-scoring Spurs and a seemingly rejuvenated Dele Alli.

Elsewhere, Southampton (8/11) can claim a crucial three points when they face fellow strugglers Norwich City. Saints enjoyed a 2-1 win over Watford at the weekend and know another three points here could see them move out of the bottom three.

Finally, add in both teams to score at 3/4 when Chelsea host Aston Villa. Both teams like to attack and it would be a huge shock if Wednesday's clash at Stamford Bridge finished goalless. The treble with bet365 is paying just under 7/1.

Selection: £3 on the treble at 6.93/1 with bet365.

The First Goal Flutter

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have scored 183 goals between them as Liverpool players and will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing an Everton side who are leaking goals. Away from home the Toffees have looked a lost cause at times this season and could struggle to contain Liverpool's 'Fab Three' at Anfield. Mane, who tends to save his best performances for the big occasion, is a 15/4 shot to score first with bet365 and that looks worth a bet on Wednesday.

Selection: £4 on Mane to score first at 15/4 with bet365.

The Euro Wager

While Liverpool look to be running away with the Premier League, the Scottish title race could not be much closer, with just a single goal currently separating Celtic and Rangers at the top of the SPL. On Wednesday night the Gers travel to Aberdeen and look a decent bet at 8/5 to win without conceding.

Alfredo Morelos struck his 25th goal of the season as they swept past Hearts 5-0 at Ibrox last time out and the Colombian can help Steven Gerrard's men to another big win.

Selection: £2.50 on Rangers to win to nil at 8/5 with bet365.
